It's a wonderful life when we are with the spirit.
What is important to the character illustrated in the previous clip? Is it family, friends, or money? Paying attention to the spirit within us is paying attention to a completely different set of needs then the world teaches us. Seeking understanding through the world's eyes people can lose sight of the their spiritual needs. They can lose sight of other's spiritual needs when they increase their attention to deadlines, chores, school, and finances. When they place things, status, and money above their God's interests they sacrifice their relationship with God. They can become slaves to sin. They can ignore the spirit within them and set their hearts and minds upon things which ruin their spiritual relationships. People have lived for centuries in tents eating corn, beans, squash, animals, and fish. They were happy and peaceful. John the baptist ate wild locus and honey. Many people talk about how great God is, but then justify not relying upon him because they are too busy making money so their kids can have the "right" clothes and go to the "right" college etc. They can grow up without the demonstration and instruction of God's love, peace, compassion, truth, mercy, forgiveness, kindness, patience, and generosity. Next thing they know they have been disconnected from their hearts for so long they have forgotten how to connect, to be real, and sincere. Instead they connect with pain, fear, anger, stress, and anxiety. It is Good for us that God is so incredibly simple and easy find, but the evil now ingrained within our body requires a sense of spiritual detoxification. Our learned and practiced responses have adapted to so many sinful ways, changing them will require self-discipline and may feel awkward, different, and uncomfortable. Often times, a gradual slow progression toward right living is more attainable due to the physical struggle and resistance of change.
