We are to serve God as an act of worship
God is; "love, compassion, spirit, truth, faith, mercy, gracious, peace, just, righteous, goodness, and strength."
Service is an attitude which comes from our belief and faith. We are to be believe that God is correct and right, submitting our pride and selfishness, and trusting in God's goodness through our actions, demeanor, and character. We begin our outward service for God by understanding our position mentally as a humble servant towards God's grace and righteousness.
It is the Lord your God you must follow, and him you must revere. Keep his commands and obey him; serve him and hold fast to him.
Joshua 24:14 “Now fear the Lord and serve him with all faithfulness. Throw away the gods your ancestors worshiped beyond the Euphrates River and in Egypt, and serve the Lord.
Joshua 23:16 If you violate the covenant of the Lord your God, which he commanded you, and go and serve other gods and bow down to them, the Lord’s anger will burn against you, and you will quickly perish from the good land he has given you.”
Matthew 4:10 Jesus said to him, “Away from me, Satan! For it is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.’”
Matthew 6:24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.
