We are to engage in and reflect on these Godly principles. In doing so we will participate with God in developing compassion. God is love and to love is to know God.
1 John 4:8 "Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love."
2 Peter 1:8 "For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ."
We have an inward instructor to listen to, trust, and follow.
Having put to death the old and begun living the new life we gain new experiences with God. We now seek God's will instead of our own and see our usefulness to others and God affect and change lives of others.
Romans 7:6 But now, by dying to what once bound us, we have been released from the law so that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code.
1 Corinthians 5:7 Get rid of the old yeast, so that you may be a new unleavened batch—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.
2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!
Characteristics of a new life with God
Spiritual Progression toward peace, contentment, fulfillment, faith, hope, and joy in all things
Praying in truth and sincerity, paying attention to thoughts and feelings
Confessing problems from the heart with an adult spiritual leader
Being part of a group who are seeking to grow in love, truth, and Godly character
Taking responsibility for choices, setting spiritual goals, examining self and purifying the heart
Growing in service and humility, being completely honest, Thinking positive things with hope and faith
Loving others and letting them love us back, forgiving others, showing mercy to others, sharing
Thinking of others, volunteering and giving time to help others, tithing
Studying God’s word, practicing his commands from the heart, and listening to the Holy Spirit
Committing to a spiritual group, church, and becoming personally involved with others honestly
Resolving conflict with others, rebuking others with gentleness and love
Seeking close relationships, Finding reasons to have fellowship and discussing personal things, building intimacy
Increased confidence in God, truth, identity in Christ, Increased time in prayer, meditation, and solitude
Focused on being God’s instrument, growing God’s kingdom, building in love, speaking boldly, being generous
Increased patience, compassion, desire to communicate more about God’s commands and blessings
Increased sacrificial living and willingness to give more to God and his precepts
Communicate honestly about truth and God, listening to others, words of encouragement, goal is to understand others
Acts 5:20 “Go, stand in the temple courts,” he said, “and tell the people all about this new life.”
Acts 5:31-32 God exalted him to his own right hand as Prince and Savior that he might bring Israel to repentance and forgive their sins. 32 We are witnesses of these things, and so is the Holy Spirit, whom God has given to those who obey him.”
Romans 6:4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
Galatians 6:15 Neither circumcision nor uncircumcision means anything; what counts is the new creation.
Ephesians 2:15 by setting aside in his flesh the law with its commands and regulations. His purpose was to create in himself one new humanity out of the two, thus making peace,
Ephesians 4:23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;
Colossians 3:10 and have put on the new self, which is being renewed in knowledge in the image of its Creator.
2 Peter 3:13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.
