The PDF packet provided here has over 50 pages of scripture by topics related to discipleship. Please read it together in your small group while sharing different translations to better understand how we may increase in God and grow as disciples of God.

Discussions ought to focus on insight for spiritual growth. We ought to seek out solutions for ourselves. We ought to speak for ourselves only. Our thoughts and comments ought to focus toward how we each individually can improve toward God’s character. (inductive study style)

Part one - understanding the common message (when something gets repeated it raises its importance or significance)

  1. Is there a common theme, repetition, or pattern? What is the central point to the topic?
  2. Are there any questions about any verse to share with the group?

Part two -  what can we take away from the message for us (If we are learners/disciples of God, then shouldn't we read the message as if God was teaching us how to live, think, follow, and shape our attitudes?)

  1. Does the scripture provide instructions on how to think or behave?
  2. Can anyone share from a personal life experience how they might relate to tonight's scripture?
  3. Does the scripture indicate consequences for some thought or behavior?
  4. Are there ways we can take action to improve toward this point or message?

Disciple

Disciples don't just read the word, but do what it says: (confess, repent, obey, follow, learn, grow, etc.)

3101 mathētḗs (from math-, the "mental effort needed to think something through") – properly, a learner; a disciple, a follower of Christ who learns the doctrines of Scripture and the lifestyle they require; someone catechized with proper instruction from the Bible with its necessary follow-through (life-applications). See also 3100 /mathēteúō ("to disciple").
